In terms of casino games and different bets, Connecticut gambling laws allow social gambling, raffle games, a state lottery, race betting and charitable bingo – and you can do all of this in regular, traditional casinos. However, there is some confusion about online casino gambling. At the time of writing, any participation in paid daily fantasy betting in Connecticut is completely illegal for people in Connecticut. However, this doesn’t stop some online operators offering their services to those who wish to break the law and take the risk of penalty if they should get caught. (c) “Bazaar and raffle act” means sections 7-170 to 7-186, inclusive, of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended. (d) “Chance”, by which it is determined that certain tickets entitle the holders to prizes at a raffle, means the drawing from a container having therein counterparts or stubs of all tickets sold, or, in the case of a cow. By law, violating the bingo laws is a Class D misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days imprisonment, up to a $250 fine, or both (CGS § 7-169(k)(5)). Raffle sponsors do not have to own the prizes being awarded in the raffle before the sale of any tickets (50-50 raffles are permissible under this regulation because the prize is not owned in advance of ticket sales).
